Obama-Appointed Judge Defies SCOTUS, Now Faces Impeachment

Authored by Matt Margolis via PJ Media,

An Obama-appointed federal judge just decided the Supreme Court's rulings are more like suggestions, and Republicans in Congress are done pretending she has the authority to make that call.

U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs issued an order on Friday blocking the Trump administration from ending Temporary Protected Status for Somali nationals. It was a brazen display of judicial activism, and it took Republicans about a weekend to respond.

— SCOTUS Wire (@scotus_wire) July 31, 2026

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) announced he will file articles of impeachment against Burroughs on Monday, accusing her of trampling both the Constitution and a Supreme Court ruling that should have ended this fight already.

On Monday I will file Articles of Impeachment against Judge Allison Burroughs for her unconstitutional act of Judicial Activism!!!
Enough is enough, Americans First NOT 3rd world migrants. https://t.co/r50Q8Wor8n

— Rep. Andy Ogles (@RepOgles) August 1, 2026

In a 6-3 decision in June, the justices held that the TPS statute bars federal courts from second-guessing the Department of Homeland Security's calls on designating, extending, or terminating the program. That ruling reversed lower courts and cleared the way for the Trump administration to end TPS protections for Syrian and Haitian nationals while any remaining constitutional claims get sorted out.

Burroughs apparently didn't get the memo, or didn't care.

"SCOTUS made it very clear that lower courts cannot suspend TPS. Yet, an Obama-appointed judge is defying the Court and the Constitution in an attempt to subvert the will of the President," Ogles said in a statement to Just the News. "This judicial activist's obstruction of the people's will must be stopped. Judge Burroughs must be impeached."

Ogles isn't the only one calling this out. "Judge Allison Burroughs just entered yet another order preventing the termination of Somalia TPS," Department of Homeland Security General Counsel James Percival said in a post on X. "There is no serious debate about what is going on in these cases - defiance, obstruction, and delay."

Make no mistake about it, this is a judge manufacturing a legal fiction to override a president she does not like and a Supreme Court that already ruled against her position. She is not interpreting the law. She is rewriting it in real time to get the outcome she wants.

Burroughs flouted the nation's highest court in broad daylight. If there is no consequence for that kind of defiance, every activist judge in the country just learned they can ignore the Supreme Court whenever it is inconvenient. Frankly, the ruling should be flat-out ignored because the Supreme Court has already ruled on this issue.

Impeachment is not an overreaction here. It is the bare minimum response to a judge who thinks she outranks the Constitution.

Female Bomber Kills At Least 3, Injures 21, At Upscale Moscow Restaurant

Female Bomber Kills At Least 3, Injures 21, At Upscale Moscow Restaurant

A bomb ripped through a central Moscow upscale restaurant mid-evening on Saturday in what authorities are calling a "brutal terrorist act" - which left three people dead and wounded at least 21.

"Yesterday, a brutal terrorist act was committed in Moscow that claimed human lives. The victims are currently in the city’s hospitals, where they are receiving all necessary care," Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated Sunday.

The location was at Kudrinkskaya Square outside an Italian restaurant, in one of Moscow’s seven Stalin-era skyscrapers, police described.

Russia's anti-terrorism ‌committee stated the culprit was an ‌unidentified woman carrying an improvised explosive device who tried get into the restaurant before being stopped by a security guard, who was killed in the subsequent blast, along with a customer.

The Guardian notes that the death toll could climb as many victims are being treated at area hospitals:

REN TV cited a source on Sunday as saying that two people who had been taken to hospital had later died of their wounds, bringing the death toll to five, but there was no official confirmation. The channel said six people were in a serious condition.

There's been widespread speculation as to what entity carried out the attack, and who was the intended target.

"Unverified social media reports suggested that a top Russian military commander had been the intended target but had been unharmed," The Moscow Times writes. "Russian war bloggers, without citing any evidence, were quick to blame Ukraine for the attack. Kyiv did not immediately comment."

The same report adds, "The Kommersant daily suggested that the woman carrying the bomb may not have known about it, and that it had been set off remotely by someone else," and it notes that "The restaurant's website said the venue had been closed on Saturday for a private event."

This terror attack possibly adds, pending the details, to a growing list of high profile assassinations related to the Ukraine war. To review:

—Darya Dugina was killed in a car bombing in 2022 which was likely meant for her father, prominent political thinker and often dubbed "Putin ally" Aleksandr Dugin.

—Gen Igor Kirillov died in December 2024 outside of his residence when a bomb planted in a nearby scooter detonated.

—Gen Yaroslav Moskalik, who served as deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed in a car bomb attack last April. A "homemade" explosive device detonated under his Volkswagen Golf in a residential neighborhood.

And in circumstances somewhat similar to this latest restaurant bombing, in April 2023 a cafe bombing killed prominent pro-Kremlin blogger and war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky. The blast at a St. Petersburg cafe during a close-quarters speaking event wounded some two dozen bystanders, six of them critically.

Russian media have reported details of the attack near Moscow's Balzi Rossi restaurant, where an improvised explosive device detonated yesterday:

America's CIA or Britain's MI6 has long been suspected by some pundits of being involved in these targeted killings, or at least assisting in such brazen Ukrainian-linked operations, but ultimately little has been uncovered or proven in terms of a potential Western hidden hand in this ongoing 'dirty war'.

The “National Anthem” Club Just Got A New Inductee — One Of The Worst I’ve Ever Heard
2026-08-02T17:19:03+00:00

Look, I get it….our National Anthem is a hard song to sing.

I also fully admit I can’t sing a note!

But that also means I don’t volunteer to sing the National Anthem in front of a full stadium.

And perhaps these ladies shouldn’t either because the “Worst Renditions of the National Anthem” club just got three new members.

Of course it was delivered at the first “Women’s Professional Baseball” game, which I realize sounds absolutely terrible, so I guess they found some music to fit.

With apologies to ears everywhere, watch here:

Nothing will prepare you for the national anthem at the first women’s professional baseball game. And I mean nothing. pic.twitter.com/68tCZXvB4Q

— Not the Bee (@Not_the_Bee) August 2, 2026

Backup here if you need it:

!function(r,u,m,b,l,e){r._Rumble=b,r[b]||(r[b]=function(){(r[b]._=r[b]._||[]).push(arguments);if(r[b]._.length==1){l=u.createElement(m),e=u.getElementsByTagName(m)[0],l.async=1,l.src=”https://rumble.com/embedJS/u2oodx”+(arguments[1].video?’.’+arguments[1].video:”)+”/?url=”+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+”&args=”+encodeURIComponent(JSON.stringify([].slice.apply(arguments))),e.parentNode.insertBefore(l,e)}})}(window, document, “script”, “Rumble”);

Rumble(“play”, {“video”:”v7bfvvg”,”div”:”rumble_v7bfvvg”});

I suppose we shouldn’t be too hard on her, because she after-all 85 years old.

But Martha, why in the world would you put yourself in this situation if you knew you could no longer sing a note?

Martha Reeves (the Motown legend from Martha and the Vandellas) and two unidentified accompanying/backup singers.

Martha Reeves (age 85) is the only one named in coverage, on-screen graphics from the broadcast, and viral clips of the performance at the Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL) inaugural game on August 1, 2026, at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois (LA Queens vs. New York Heights). She is the central figure in the widely shared video.

The other two women appear alongside her in the video (one in a white cowboy hat and patriotic/American-flag-themed fringed dress; the other in a white fringe jacket). Reports and commentary consistently describe them only as “backup singers,” “two other singers,” or “accompanying” performers who were similarly off-key and out of sync.

No public sources (news articles, social media discussions, Reddit threads, or official league references) identify them by name; they do not appear to be well-known figures.

The performance itself went viral for being unrehearsed-sounding and poorly synchronized, with the group often in different keys.

And for those of you curious about the new women’s baseball league, here are those details:

This is a brand-new professional women’s baseball league: the Women’s Pro Baseball League (WPBL).

It is the first sustained U.S. professional league for women playing hardball baseball (not softball) since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL, famous from A League of Their Own) ended in 1954—roughly 70+ years later.

The league was co-founded in 2024 by Justine Siegal (a baseball pioneer who became the first woman to coach in an MLB organization with the Oakland A’s in 2015, founded Baseball for All to expand opportunities for girls, and now serves as WPBL commissioner) and Keith Stein (a businessman and sports team owner). It aims to create a professional pathway for elite women baseball players, as opportunities have historically been limited—most girls play softball, and college/high school hardball programs for women remain rare.

Key details of the inaugural 2026 season Start date and format

Opened August 1, 2026. It features a short regular season of about 30 games (roughly 6–8 weeks, with teams typically playing 2–3 games per week, mostly midweek to weekends), followed by playoffs. Games are seven innings. Players may use wood, composite, or aluminum bats. Rosters are relatively small (around 15–25 players).

Teams (all women vs. women)

Four inaugural franchises representing major markets, with names inspired by pioneering women:

Boston Hunters (inspired by physician Harriot Hunt)

Los Angeles Queens (inspired by Lizzie Murphy, the “Queen of the Diamond”)

New York Heights (inspired by civil rights and women’s rights leader Dorothy Height)

San Francisco Firebells (inspired by Lillie “Firebelle Lil” Hitchcock Coit)

Venue

All games in the first season are at a single neutral site—Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois (capacity around 5,200)—to control costs and logistics. Expansion beyond four teams is planned later.

Players and talent

Drawn from tryouts (hundreds of registrants from multiple countries, with top players advancing to a draft). Includes U.S., Canadian, Japanese, Korean, and other international talent. Notable names include Mo’ne Davis (on the LA Queens; known from Little League World Series fame), Kelsie Whitmore (No. 1 overall pick by San Francisco; former Team USA and Savannah Bananas player), Japanese star Ayami Sato, and others with national team experience.

Broadcasting and operations

All games stream on ESPN Select; select games also on Scripps Sports Network, with international YouTube access. Players receive salaries (comparable to some minor-league levels, with draft order influencing pay), housing, meals on game days, and potential revenue shares from sponsorships. The league has no formal affiliation with MLB.

Historical and cultural context

The WPBL explicitly positions itself as a revival and modern evolution of women’s professional baseball. It has strong ties to AAGPBL history: Maybelle Blair (a 99-year-old former AAGPBL pitcher) serves as honorary chair of the advisory board, has been involved in tryouts and tributes, and symbolizes continuity. The league emphasizes providing visibility and professional opportunities amid growing interest in women’s sports (drawing parallels to the success of the WNBA and NWSL).

The specific game tied to the viral national anthem clip was the inaugural contest on August 1, 2026: Los Angeles Queens defeated New York Heights 10–8 in a comeback win at Robin Roberts Stadium. Motown legend Martha Reeves (of Martha and the Vandellas) performed the national anthem (alongside others), and the unconventional style of the performance drew widespread online attention and mixed reactions, which is why the clip circulated widely.

In short, this is genuine professional baseball played exclusively by women against other women, in a new independent league designed as a long-term platform rather than a one-off exhibition. The single-site hub model and shortened format for Year 1 reflect a practical startup approach while aiming for broader growth and visibility.

I can’t wait to never watch a game!

The Worst National Anthem of all time is a list with a lot of competition…

It includes icons like Carl Lewis, Fergie and Cuba Gooding, Sr. to name just a few.

And other than alligators, it’s one of my top fascinations around here other than politics.

So it’s like Christmas morning when we get a new member admitted into the club.

Please welcome Ingrid Andress into the exclusive group of “Worst National Anthems of All Time”.

Does she claim the #1 spot?

She’s got a real chance, but I’ll leave that up to you.

Now let’s discuss a few things…

First of all, until right now I had no idea who Ingrid Andress was, and I was happy about that.

But when I first saw this I thought she looks like she was 12 so I had to check to make sure we weren’t making fun of a child.

Nope, all clear.  She’s 32 years old.

Also, she has now came out and blamed the performance on being “drunk last night” which I wasn’t aware made you unable to hit any note in the entire song, but I guess it does.

Our National Anthem is a beautiful song…

But a hard song.

With difficult lyrics to memorize and sing, especially with a stadium of thousands watching you.

Which is why there are so many horrible, horrible renditions of the Anthem out there.

It’s kind of one of my guilty pleasures, to rank these from Worst to Really Worst.

This might give you a smile, it always does to me.

And to kick off the Worst of the Worst list, we have to go with the King himself…

I’m talking about you, Carl Lewis.

For my money, nothing will ever beat Carl Lewis’s “UH OH!” or “I’ll make up for it now!” but Fergie gives him a good challenge.

Watch for yourself and enjoy a little laugh:

You gotta love all the players at the end cracking up when it ended and I think to this day Carl may still be doing that wave sound with his voice…

So good.

I didn’t realize until rewatching it today it was actually during one of Jordan’s games.

Carl, how did you do my boy Michael like that?

You don’t bring THAT presentation to a 90’s Bulls game!

And then we enter the lounge for terrible Anthem #2:

It’s a revered song, our National Anthem….not a jazz ditty in a boozy bar Fergie!

You’re not Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday to JFK!

And ok…here is one more bonus terrible rendition.

This honor goes to Cuba Gooding, Sr. and oh my is it terrible…

You know when the headline compares you to Carl Lewis you’re in rare company.

Bad company.

My man sang this like he was late to catch a plane!

Enjoy:

And since we did the worst, it’s only fair to show you what might be the best next.

One of the tops is Meatloaf from 1984.

A general rule in life is that whoever they mock the most is usually the most talented and one of the best human beings.  Such seems to be the case with Meatloaf.  The man was awesome!

And so was this:

If anyone needs a timeline cleanse after Ingrid Andress' horrible national anthem, here's the greatest national anthem in the history of the MLB All-Star Game, courtesy of Meat Loaf in 1994

Of course the best of the best is widely considered to be Whitney Houston.

Take a moment to enjoy this masterpiece:

She made it look absolutely effortless.

That’s what the best of the best always do.

Absolutely stunning!

Man, I miss the 1990s….

We had Whitney.

We had Michael.

It was just a better time.

Ok, and while this isn’t the Star Spangled Banner, I have to add it into the list:

It was just a better time back then.

Let’s do a few more back to the Anthem….

Last, to wrap it up we’ve done Worst, Best and now let’s do Serious.

Serious and sentimental.

Because this truly is great.

Absolutely wonderful, except for a few of the players who either don’t know the words or think they’re above singing.

I’ve already watched many times.

WATCH: RFK Jr. Turns CNN Interview Into a Reckoning Over What Happened to COVID Dissenters
2026-08-02T16:53:03+00:00

RFK Jr. walked onto CNN Sunday morning as the interview subject.

Then he turned the cameras around on CNN.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy was being pressed by Dana Bash about how America should prepare for another pandemic.

Kennedy’s answer began with doctors, constitutional rights and the danger of silencing people who challenge official policy.

When Bash tried to move the conversation along, Kennedy refused to let the subject disappear.

He accused CNN of “press malpractice” and said a journalist’s job demands fierce skepticism toward authority—the very skepticism he believes vanished when COVID dissenters were marginalized.

One of the sharpest moments came when Bash described COVID as a frightening period and Kennedy challenged the network’s role in creating that fear:

Dana Bash: “Covid was a scary time.”

RFK JR: “You were scaring people.”

Bash: "Why are you saying that?"

RFK JR: “Because that was the job of CNN. To put the chyrons up on how many people are dying to get people to believe a lie.”

pic.twitter.com/JlYDlC3iWL

— Patriots For Trump (@PatriotsFob900) August 2, 2026

There is one important correction to the caption circulating with that clip.

The official CNN State of the Union transcript records Kennedy saying the network displayed death-count chyrons to get people to comply. The verified transcript does not say “believe a lie.”

The interview aired shortly after 9 a.m. Eastern on August 2. Bash opened by asking whether President Trump shared responsibility for the pandemic response because Fauci served during Trump’s first administration.

Kennedy answered that President Trump had pushed to reopen the country and blamed the lockdowns for long-term damage to businesses, churches and schools. Bash countered that governors imposed lockdowns while responding to overwhelmed hospitals.

The transcript shows that Kennedy tied pandemic readiness to preserving constitutional rights and listening to doctors on the ground. Bash pushed back that she was asking about preventing a future health crisis, not relitigating the past.

Kennedy’s response was that suppressing dissent was itself one of the failures that must not be repeated. He said doctors who challenged official policy had been marginalized and vilified.

Bash rejected his accusation and said she would not let claims she considered inaccurate go unanswered.

The interview then moved through vaccine effectiveness, measles and autism research. Bash cited public-health studies and repeatedly challenged Kennedy’s assertions, while Kennedy demanded that she identify the evidence behind the claims she was repeating.

That sequence is essential context. CNN did not give Kennedy an uncontested platform, and Kennedy did not limit his criticism to one chyron or one disputed medical claim.

That exchange is what made the interview bigger than another argument over Anthony Fauci or vaccines. Kennedy was questioning who held power accountable when the country was afraid—and what happens when the press begins defending authority instead.

This was a long-overdue moment on CNN.

RFK Jr. called out the network on air for helping to silence dissent during COVID.

Dana Bash was getting visibly irritated, after she repeatedly tried to move the conversation away from censorship.

Then he aimed his fire at Dana Bash… pic.twitter.com/yHmIxjgz25

— Overton (@overton_news) August 2, 2026

The documentary record makes that question impossible to dismiss as mere hindsight.

In Murthy v. Missouri, the Supreme Court described extensive communications between federal officials and social-media companies during the pandemic. Platforms were removing, demoting and fact-checking posts that contained claims they considered false or misleading.

The record covered contacts involving the White House, the Surgeon General’s office and the CDC. Lower courts concluded that some of those communications crossed the line into coercion and entered an injunction restricting future contacts with the platforms.

The Supreme Court reversed that result because the plaintiffs lacked standing to obtain the forward-looking injunction they requested. The majority found that the plaintiffs had not sufficiently tied likely future moderation decisions to the named government defendants.

That was a ruling about standing. The justices did not issue a merits holding that federal officials violated the First Amendment, and the decision did not erase the documented communications that drove the case.

That distinction matters. The constitutional lawsuit ended without the sweeping judgment either side wanted, while the political and journalistic accountability questions remained.

The Republican-led House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government later concluded that federal pressure and Big Tech moderation had suppressed Americans’ speech.

Its final report highlighted Mark Zuckerberg’s acknowledgment that the Biden White House pressured Facebook over COVID content, including humor and satire. The committee also said its investigation exposed a larger network of government agencies, technology platforms and outside organizations involved in policing contested speech.

The committee released its findings in December 2024 after hearings, subpoenas and interviews conducted across the previous Congress. Its four-part staff report ran thousands of pages and covered disputes involving social-media moderation, federal law enforcement, intelligence officials and advertiser pressure.

Among the outcomes it claimed were changes to platform policies and the dissolution of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media. The committee presented those developments as evidence that congressional scrutiny had forced institutions to retreat from systems that punished lawful political speech.

Those are the receipts sitting behind Kennedy’s challenge to CNN: Americans were not imagining that powerful institutions coordinated around what the public was allowed to see and say.

That does not mean every dissenter was right. Some claims were false, reckless or unsupported.

A serious press should challenge those claims aggressively.

But it should challenge government officials, health agencies and favored experts just as aggressively. Skepticism cannot become a one-way weapon reserved only for people outside the approved circle.

HOLY CRAP! Sec. Bobby Kennedy just OBLITERATED Dana Bash to her face

"I'm not debating this with you. Of course you won't. All you know how to do is repeat things that people told you and say, 'Trust the experts!' That's what you did during Covid.”

Bash never conceded Kennedy’s case. She challenged him repeatedly and defended her role as questioning public officials and consulting experts.

That is exactly why the exchange landed.

For once, the people who spent the pandemic demanding answers were not outside the studio being labeled and dismissed. The argument was brought directly to one of the country’s biggest news networks, live on its own air.

And CNN had to answer.

Medical Examiner Makes Major Ruling in Teen’s Death at Home Owned by ‘Squad’ Democrat’s Husband
2026-08-02T16:53:02+00:00

A medical examiner has now made the ruling that turns the death of 18-year-old Yoseliani Ann Marte Ocasio into a murder investigation.

Her death was a homicide.

Marte was found with a gunshot wound inside a Mattapan rental property owned by Conan Harris, the husband of far-left “Squad” Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).

Nearly two weeks after the grim discovery, the case has moved from a death investigation to a confirmed homicide with no arrest publicly announced.

The Boston Globe reported that the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner formally ruled Marte’s death a homicide on Thursday, July 30.

The 18-year-old died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Boston Police homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of her killing.

No suspect has been publicly identified, and authorities have announced no charges.

The ruling came 12 days after Marte was found on July 18; an autopsy performed the following day established the gunshot wound as the cause of death, while the manner remained pending until the additional forensic work was completed. The homicide finding confirms that her death resulted from another person’s action rather than an accident or self-inflicted injury.

The local report also made clear that investigators have not tied Pressley, Harris, or the property’s ownership to the shooting. The political connection is part of the address’s public record, not an allegation that the owners took part in the crime.

The police response began shortly before 2 p.m. on July 18, after someone walked into Boston Police District E-18 and reported that a person had been shot at 25 Malta Street.

CBS News Boston reported that officers entered the property, conducted a protective sweep, and found Marte in a rear bedroom of the building’s second apartment.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy the following day established the gunshot wound as the cause of death, but additional forensic testing was required before the manner of death was finalized.

That final determination has now come back: homicide.

The incident report placed the body near a rear bedroom in the second-floor apartment; the walk-in report specifically concerned a person who had been shot, prompting officers to enter the building and sweep the residence before locating Marte. The report did not identify the person who alerted police.

City property records reviewed by the station list Harris as the owner. The house is a two-story, seven-bedroom rental assessed at roughly $919,000 and had been offered for sale for $1.15 million.

Marte’s family had been demanding answers before the medical examiner’s ruling became public.

Boston 25 News identified the victim through her mother, Elenie Ocasio, who described her daughter as deeply loved, kind, intelligent, and full of promise.

Ocasio said she believed her daughter’s death involved domestic violence and that she wanted justice. Police have not publicly confirmed that allegation or identified a suspect.

The grieving mother said she believed she knew who might be responsible, but authorities have not endorsed that claim. Her public appeal centered on finding accountability for her daughter, not on the property’s famous political connection.

Friends remembered Marte as intelligent and full of life, with plans for college and a future that was only beginning. A memorial outside the Malta Street property included candles, balloons, teddy bears, and a smiling photograph of the teenager.

Property records identify Harris as the owner of the two-story, seven-bedroom house. Pressley and Harris do not live at the Malta Street address; it is a rental property that had been listed for sale.

Police have said there is no indication that the property’s owners are connected to Marte’s death.

Pressley’s office offered condolences to the young woman’s family after the body was discovered and said neither the congresswoman nor her family was involved in the incident.

The Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is responsible for determining the cause and manner of deaths involving violent, suspicious, or unexplained circumstances.

Its ruling removes any remaining uncertainty about how Marte died. The unanswered question now belongs to Boston Police: who killed her?
