Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was admitted to a hospital Sunday morning, his office said.
“Senator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care,” spokesperson David Popp said, according to CNN.
The cause of McConnell’s hospitalization is unclear.

— CNN (@CNN) June 14, 2026
CNN shared further:
McConnell, 84, has faced a series of health issues in recent years. In March 2023, he suffered a concussion and broken ribs after a fall. Months later, he froze midsentence during a news conference. CNN later reported he had suffered two other falls earlier that year.
McConnell was first elected to the Senate in 1984 and became the body’s majority leader in 2015. As the Senate’s longest-tenured GOP leader, he helped shape President Donald Trump’s first term, especially helping to usher through hundreds of federal judges.
But during Trump’s second term, McConnell, who is no longer in the Senate leadership position, has often found himself at odds with the president. He cast votes against some of the president’s most prominent Cabinet nominees, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. McConnell, a childhood polio survivor, said Kennedy “failed to prove he is the best possible person to lead America’s health agency.”
“Join me in lifting Senator McConnell in prayer for a swift recovery. Grateful to hear he is receiving excellent care from his medical team, and we look forward to seeing him in the Senate halls soon,” Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) commented.

McConnell is among the oldest senators in the upper legislative chamber.
Only Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who is 92, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is 84, are older than the Kentucky Republican.
Fox News noted:
McConnell, the longest-serving Senate party leader in U.S. history, was previously hospitalized for eight days earlier this year after experiencing “flu-like symptoms.”
The 84-year-old senator announced last February that he would not seek reelection and would retire when his current term ends in January 2027.

President Donald Trump has said a deal to end the US and Iran war is scheduled to be signed on Sunday, after Iran cast doubt on the timing.
In a social media post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL."
Previously, as Trump claimed that the peace deal to end Iran war is near, Tehran has blatantly denied any such updates on agreement to the U.S. offered deal. Washington carried out fresh strikes on Iranian-linked targets and tanker traffic, while Iran retaliated against ships and US military positions across the region. The Strait of Hormuz remains at the center of the confrontation, with both sides offering conflicting accounts of its status. Even as mediators pursue diplomacy, Trump has escalated rhetoric and pressure. The central question remains unanswered: can overwhelming military power deliver a political settlement, or merely prolong the conflict?

New York City descended into madness after the New York Knicks captured their first championship in over 50 years against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.
The chaos resulted in over 60 arrests, nearly a dozen injured police officers, multiple people being stabbed, and a bus being set ablaze.

“Rioters have begun setting the school buses ON FIRE in Times Square during the Knicks riots. Police do not have NEARLY ENOUGH SUPPORT. Mamdani and Hochul have ABSOLUTELY FAILED NYPD and law abiding New Yorkers,” journalist Nick Sortor commented.

More from the New York Post:
Charges against the out-of-control revelers included an assault on a police officer by a 28-year-old man from Arlington, Texas, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration, police said.
Shocking video footage showed the Times Square crowd descending on yellow school buses reserved to take soccer fans to FIFA World Cup games at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey — ripping them apart and completely torching one.
Hooligans also took bats to NYPD vehicles, lit fireworks in the middle of the massive crowds and blocked traffic on several roads, while several fights broke out, police said.
The 17-year-old who was shot in his left foot at West 42nd Street and Broadway told cops he was riding a CitiBike when injured, law-enforcement sources said. The teen was not being cooperative with investigators, they said.
He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Three people were detained in the incident, and a gun was recovered, sources said.
“I’m scared for my homies,” a fan screamed in the chaos.
One woman is seen on video footage voicing concern over the senseless destruction of the school buses.
“You know, our taxpayer dollars go to public schools, right?” she said.

ESPN shared further:
The city will officially celebrate the Knicks on Thursday with a parade and City Hall ceremony.
As the clock ticked to the final buzzer Saturday night, anxiety that had dominated the game’s first three quarters gave way to euphoria. An orange-and-blue-tinted fever dream that started with the Knicks’ first playoff game two months ago ended in the third title in their 80-year history.
Fireworks boomed over Brooklyn and Central Park. Fans flocked to Times Square and ran through the streets. Outside the Garden, they sang the team’s anthem: “Go New York, Go New York, Go!”
Police officers and ambulance workers shouted “Let’s go Knicks” over loudspeakers in Brooklyn. Strangers shook hands and hugged. In the Lincoln Tunnel, where people were riding buses back from the World Cup at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, drivers honked their horns in celebration.
“I’m so overwhelmed. I’m so happy,” said Mathieu Ogno, of Long Island, who fought back tears as he soaked in the victory at a team-sanctioned watch party at Wollman Rink in Central Park.
Ogno wore the jersey of Knicks captain Jalen Brunson, whose 45 points propelled New York to victory and him to the NBA Finals MVP. Brunson’s gritty determination and chip-on-his-shoulder style have made him a fan favorite, embodying New York’s working-class ethos.
The Knicks’ championship — 19,392 days since their last — capped an extraordinary postseason for a franchise that hadn’t been to the NBA Finals since losing to the Spurs in 1999. Since April 23, the team has won 15 of 16 games, with its lone loss coming Monday in Game 3.
Their last title, in 1973, was also won on the road in a Game 5. Their first, in 1970, was won at home in a Game 7 thriller. Neither was celebrated with a parade.

India: Monsoon arrived in Kerala on June 4, bringing long-awaited relief after weeks of extreme heat. But even as the first showers sweep across the country's southern coast, meteorologists are warning that the 2026 monsoon season could be India's weakest in more than a decade. At the centre of these concerns is El Niño, a climate phenomenon that can disrupt rainfall patterns and weaken the moisture-bearing winds that drive the monsoon. In this report, Gursshheen Gahllen brings you details on why forecasters are worried, what history tells us about El Niño years, and what a weaker monsoon could mean for farmers, food prices, and India's economy.
